Counterfeit Banknote Alert: Scotland & West Yorkshire
| 27 Sep 2017
Police Scotland is urging people to be aware of counterfeit bank notes which are currently in circulation in the Caithness area.
Members of the public who work in shops or others jobs where they regularly handle cash are urged to be on their guard after several reports were made of fake cash being used across the county.
The notes involved are Bank of England £20 notes, which on examination are found to be fake and all bear the same serial number.
UK Police also seized counterfeit £20 notes from a shop in Bradford at the weekend.
In total, three notes were confiscated from the premises, one of which is pictured.
The discovery of the fake notes has prompted West Yorkshire Police to issue a wider warning to the public amid fears that more such notes may be in circulation across the district.
The Bradford South policing team said: “Please be vigilant as there may be more in circulation.”
