UK Counterfeit Banknote Alert: Derry

According to Derry Now; 'A warning has been issued after an increase in counterfeit Bank of England £50 notes in the city.'

The warning was issued by the City Centre Initiative (CCI).

A CCI spokesperson said: "We would like to remind businesses to check all bank notes are genuine at the point of sale. 

"We have been informed that the particular notes in circulation at present pass the counterfeit cash detector pens so please also make your staff aware of this."

The serial number on the counterfeit notes is: BM62306432. Please inform all staff to be vigilant and report any instances of counterfeit cash being received or attempts to use the counterfeit cash to the PSNI on 101."
