UK Counterfeit Banknote Alert: Cumbria

Cumbria Police have told the public to be vigilant following the use of counterfeit notes in the county. This follows an incident in Penrith where a man tried to purchase low value items from a retailer.

Police would like to remind retailers in Cumbria to be extremely vigilant for these circumstances and ensure that notes are legitimate before carrying out a transaction.

Anyone who suspects the use of fake money is asked to call 101.
